Your First Visit
First, we’ll welcome you to our office! We’ll then perform an in-depth examination of your teeth and gums to detect periodontal, aesthetic, and additional oral health concerns. This exam takes longer than a typical appointment (approximately one-hour) as we need this time to get the full picture of you as our patient.
Office Policies
Quality, Continuity, & Consistency of Care
We care about our community and value your relationship with us. We strive to schedule all appointments as soon as possible. If you must miss or reschedule an appointment, we require 2 business days’ notice. We will record cancellations and missed appointments in the patient chart. Missed appointments are subject to a no show fee. This is the only way to make things fair for the rest of our patients who cooperate and arrive in a timely fashion to their scheduled appointments.
Financial Arrangements
Please bring your insurance information at the time of your appointment. Acceptable payment options include:
- Cash
- Visa
- MasterCard
- Debit
- Cheque (A fee of $25.00 will be applied to all NSF cheques returned by your bank)
Insurance Benefits
For your convenience, we can file insurance claims on your behalf. We send most claims electronically if your insurance company is set up for this; otherwise, we will mail the forms for you. We stress to patients that every single insurance company is different, and it is impossible for us to know what they will and will not cover.
Insurance benefits are determined by your employer and not your dentist. While there is no guarantee that your insurance company will cover all of the treatment necessary, we will happily send an estimate to your insurance company to determine if/any out of pocket expense will be incurred by you before treatment.
You need to be in close contact with your insurance company. Please familiarize yourself with your insurance coverage, dates, and contact information if you need to reach them. We have and always will do our best to help you understand your benefits, but this is limited due to the privacy act. We are here to provide you with the best possible dental care, and we remind you that this does not mean that your insurance will pay completely for all of your needed treatment.
Radiography Policy
Radiographs are a vital part of the diagnosis of your periodontal and restorative condition and to provide you with the highest possible care, it is important to have radiographs (X-rays) at your first visit. We will make every effort to obtain any recent radiographs from your previous dentist with your consent. As long as the requested radiographs are recent and legible, we will use those to help us diagnose at the highest possible level.
We use digital radiography equipment in our office, which emits half of the amount of radiation as conventional radiography. Good diagnostics, in most cases, will help us in preventing more expensive dental care. Please understand that the rationale for this is based on the principle of providing a quality dental care experience with the lowest cost, best diagnosis, all while safely caring for you and/or your family.
