When you are ready to feel confident about your smile, choose the office of Karen Archer, D.D.S. for all your dental care needs. Our goal is to treat our patients with the respect they deserve and provide them with a comfortable and safe environment, where they will receive the highest quality of dental care available.

Appointments

Our office is currently accepting new patients. Please call our office at 519-326-3313 to schedule an appointment. Once you make an appointment at our office, that time will be reserved for you.

First Visit

Your initial visit with us will will include a very thorough examination of your teeth and gums. Radiographs will be taken as prescribed by Dr. Archer. Please expect this visit to be approximately 1 hour. We take this time to complete an initial periodontal and restorative exam and this normally takes longer than future subsequent exams; it includes a comprehensive health history, blood pressure check, and periodontal measurements, oral cancer screening and examination of existing dental work.

Radiograph Policy

Radiographs are an extremely important part of the diagnosis of your periodontal and restorative condition and in order to provide you with the highest possible care, it is important to have radiographs (X-rays) at your first visit. We will take every effort to obtain any recent radiographs from your previous dentist with your consent. As long as the requested radiographs are recent and legible we will use those to help us diagnose at the highest possible level. We use digital radiography equipment in our office which emits half of the amount of radiation as conventional radiography. Good diagnostics in most cases will help us in preventing more expensive dental care. Please understand that the rationale for this is based on the principal of providing a quality dental care experience with the lowest cost, best diagnosis, all while safely caring for you and/or your family.

Financial Arrangements

All of our patients are valuable to us and it is very important for us to treat patients equally. Full payment is due at the time that the services are rendered for all patients. This allows us to adhere to the current Ontario Dental Association Fee Guide and keep our fees within their recommended range. Acceptable payment options include: cash, cheque, Visa, MasterCard, and Debit. A fee of $25.00 will be applied to all NSF cheques returned by your bank.

We will send out a reminder e-mail 2 weeks prior to your scheduled cleaning appointment and we call 2 days before your appointment for both cleanings and restorative treatment. We ask that you please call us at least 2 days prior to your appointment if changes are required to avoid a missed appointment charge being applied to your account.

Insurance Benefits

We are pleased to be able to send everyone's insurance claims to their insurance companies for them. We send most claims electronically if your insurance company is set up for this, otherwise, we will mail the forms for you. We stress to patients that every single insurance company is different and it is impossible for us to know what they will and will not cover. Insurance benefits are determined by your employer and not your dentist. While, there is no guarantee that your insurance company will cover all of the treatment necessary, we will happily send an estimate to your insurance company to determine if/any out of pocket expense will be incurred by you prior to treatment. It is important for you to be in close contact with your insurance company. Please familiarize yourself with your insurance coverage, dates and contact information in case you need to reach them. We have and always will do our best to help you understand your benefits, but due to the privacy act this is limited. We are here to provide you with the best possible dental care and we remind you that this does not mean that your insurance will pay completely for all of your needed treatment.

Continuity and Consistency of Care

We strive to be able to book our patients appointments as soon as possible. We require 2 business days notice for appointment changes. If 48 business hour advance notice is not given via telephone or email when cancelling or moving an appointment, we will record cancellations and missed appointments in the patient chart. Missed appointments are subject to a no show fee. This is the only way to make things fair for the rest of our patients who cooperate and arrive in a timely fashion to their scheduled appointments. Thank you for understanding and caring about your fellow community members and valuing your relationship with our dental office.

We understand that life happens and all we ask is that you let us know. New patients to our office and patients who have a history of missed appointments may have their appointments cancelled if we do not receive confirmation. All of our patients are valued and if you cannot keep your scheduled appointment, someone is waiting for that time so please let us know.
